About Us
A registered not-for-profit organisation supporting culturally and linguistically diverse(CALD) communities, with a primary focus on Nepali-speaking communities by raising awareness,reducing stigma, providing cultural consultations in Mental Health, Gambling Harm Preventionand Water Safety. Through culturally inclusive education, advocacy, and innovative communityprograms, we aim to create awareness to foster open conversations without judgment and connectindividuals to culturally informed, safe and appropriate support services.
Our Story
Mates From Himalayas (MFH) was created to support communities struggling in silence by breaking cultural, language, and stigma barriers, raising awareness, and providing culturally safe guidance so no one feels alone and everyone can access support that truly understands them.
Why We Exist
Support systems exist, but they often feel distant or hard to access.Language barriers, cultural differences, and stigma around personal challenges make reaching out difficult. Too many individuals were left unsure, even when help was available.
How We Started
MFH grew out of conversations among people who deeply understood these challenges.From these shared observations, a community-led, not-for-profit movement was born. Our foundation is grounded in lived experience, compassion, and trust.
Our Focus Areas
We prioritize areas where the need is urgent and often overlooked:Mental health – supporting individuals and families. Gambling-related harms – preventing negative impacts on communities.
