Success Stories

Story One

We befriended a young lady who came along to the BBQ on the beach last year when we held the meal night on the Sandgate foreshore. She was very lonely and didn’t know a lot of people in the area but started to come every fortnight and some MFH volunteers visited her. She now loves to help wherever needed and is a very valuable support to our team. She knows she is only a phone call away from help or a cup of coffee if she needs to chat. She has started going to a church in the Sandgate area and is happy to be part of her church family and also her Manna from Heaven family. She is now doing some study and is very happy about that and looking forward to be able to enter the workforce when she is fully trained in her chosen profession. The world has now opened up to her and what a good place to be.

Story Two

This story is about a young man who was doing it tough in the Sandgate area. He has been homeless and then living in not so good accommodation. He started coming regularly to the BBQs and we got to know him better. We found him to be very dependable and helpful whenever he was called to help. During the time we have known him he has continually done whatever training was available to him to improve his prospects for full time employment. He has been able to get a job, obtain a drivers licence, and eventually buy his own car. He has started going to a local church and is part of that family as well as being part of Manna from Heaven family. He has so many more choices now that he is properly trained and has such a positive attitude to life we are very fortunate to be able to call him a friend.
